This we did, at the same
time suggesting that if you did not wish the Hongkong
Extension scheme to be proceeded with, you should put us
in a position to offer to let it drop, compensating the
parent Hospital for any expectation of support which the
terms of the resolutions passed on the 25th September might
have created. We recommended, by way of compensation, a
contribution of £200 monthly for the duration of the war.
Before we received a reply to this message, an
Emergency Meeting of the Committee was called for the 3rd
November to consider a new proposal to take No. 82 Eaton
Square for the purpose of the Hongkong Extension.

the new proposal, but refused on the ground that we had
wired you for fresh instructions and that we felt it to
be necessary to await your reply.
Upon this, the Committee decided to take No. 82
Eaton Square without our acquiescence, stating that they
would offer it, when taken, for the purpose of the Hongkong
Extension and would find other means of maintaining it as a
part of the Royal Flying Corps Hospital if your Committee
